How do I know if someone has sent me a message?

Most mobiles will beep to let you know you've received a text message as well as display 'Message Received' and/or an envelope icon on the screen. For instructions on how to receive, just click on your model phone in the list above.

Who can I send text messages to, and who can I receive them from?

You can send a text message to, and receive them from, any other mobile anywhere in the world.

What does Text Messaging cost?

Text Messaging is the most cost-effective way to communicate using your mobile. It costs nothing to receive a message from another mobile, and only 10p to send a message. Although Genie now provides mobile phones that have completely free text messaging on them!

How long can I make my text message?

A text message can be up to 160 characters long, which is about 30 or 40 words. You can use abbreviations to send longer messages or to save time when keying in a message. For examples of abbreviations, see the list of Text Messaging language below.

How many messages can I receive?

Messages are stored on your SIMcard. Most SIMcards can store up to 30 messages, so it is advisable you delete read messages from time to time. New messages are held on the Network and will be sent to you as long as there's room on your SIMcard.

How quickly is a text message delivered?

Messages are usually delivered immediately, even if you're using your mobile. If you have your mobile switched off, the message is stored on the Vodafone network and is delivered as soon as you turn your mobile on.
